Man Kills Girlfriend Over HIV Infection (disturbing Video, Pictures)
The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 30-year-old Okpara Chibuike Emmanuel over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, identified as Chinyere.
The suspect was rescued from an angry mob and re-arrested by operatives attached to Awkunanaw Division on September 21, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., following information that he had allegedly murdered his girlfriend.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect allegedly killed the victim on September 19, wrapped her remains in a nylon bag and locked them inside the toilet of his apartment.
The offensive odour from the decomposing body attracted neighbours, who forced the door open and apprehended him before the arrival of the police. The remains were evacuated to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while efforts are ongoing to trace and notify her relatives.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that it followed an argument over who infected the other with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
He told the police that in the course of the argument, he struck the deceased on the head with a pestle, which resulted in her death, and subsequently wrapped and dumped her remains inside the toilet.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure the suspect is arraigned upon conclusion of investigation.
