Don Charges Nigerians on Patriotism, Unity at 66th Independence Anniversary

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

In a goodwill message on Tuesday, Oyekunle called for renewed patriotism, unity and collective commitment to building a better Nigeria.

He urged citizens to reflect on the nation’s journey since independence and remain steadfast in upholding the ideals of democracy, justice, equity and good governance.

Oyekunle also called on Nigerians to hold elected leaders accountable beyond elections, stressing that democratic participation must not end at the ballot box.

According to him, Nigerians must use their votes wisely and in the common interest of the people, particularly the underprivileged and vulnerable in society.

He noted that leadership must be centred on improving the lives of citizens, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening education and healthcare, and providing critical infrastructure and social support to raise the standard of living.

The lawmaker encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and play active roles in national development, adding that the task of building a prosperous nation rests with both leaders and citizens.

Oyekunle reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and people-oriented interventions in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, while calling for sustained support for efforts aimed at promoting national unity and inclusive governance.

He wished Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous Independence celebration.
