Sanusi receives APC apex leaders, seeks unity ahead of election

The Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, on Thursday, received over 60 apex leaders and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ibadan South-East Local Government at Ilaji Resort, Ibadan.

The engagement formed part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening party unity, deepening grassroots mobilisation and fostering greater cooperation among APC stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among the prominent stakeholders who attended the meeting were Alhaji Mufutau Adisa Gbayawu; Hon. Alhaji Mojeed Olaoye; Hon. Akeem Olatunji Akogun; Alhaji Wasiu Ajimobi, Ikolaba Olubadan of Ibadanland; Dr. Chief (Mrs.) A.A. Fayokun; Chief (Mrs.) Dr. C.A Isijola, Mogaji Abass Oloko; and Mr. Asanke Tajudeen Abioye, among others.

Also present were the APC candidate for the Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Olayode Iyiola, as well as the two APC candidates for the Oyo State House of Assembly representing constituencies within Ibadan South-East, Hon. Wasiu Hamzat and Hon. Warris Adegoke Alawuje.

Representatives of the JDS Movement from Ward 04, Ibadan South-East, led by Chief Adebayo Oloko, also participated in the engagement.

The meeting which provided a platform for frank discussions on party cohesion, also featured grassroots mobilisation, effective representation and the need for stakeholders to work collectively towards strengthening the APC’s presence across Ibadan North-East and South-East.

Speaking during the meeting, Chief Sanusi called for greater unity, commitment and collaboration among party leaders and members. He urged stakeholders to take the message of the party and its candidates to the grassroots while maintaining peaceful and issue-based political engagement.

He further appealed to the stakeholders to rally support for the APC candidates across the various elective positions, stressing the importance of coordinated efforts, active participation and sustained engagement with constituents.

Chief Sanusi emphasised that political leadership should remain focused on the interests and development of the people, while encouraging candidates and party leaders to maintain regular engagement with their constituents.

The stakeholders, in turn, reaffirmed the importance of unity and cooperation within the party and expressed readiness to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and support the party’s candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The meeting ended on a note of renewed solidarity, with participants stressing the need for continued consultation, peaceful political participation and collective action among APC stakeholders across Ibadan South-East and the wider Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency.
