Joy as Oyo Nursing College Provost Hands Daughter in Marriage
There was an atmosphere of joy and celebration as the Provost of the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, gave her daughter, Mojolaoluwa Eunice Olunaike, away in marriage to Chinedu Somtochukwu Asuzu.
The wedding ceremony, held at Vine Branch Church, Mokola, and Manhattan Hall, Eleyele, Ibadan, brought together family members, friends, colleagues, dignitaries and well-wishers, including the , Acting Governor,Barrister Bayo Lawal,wife of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Mrs. Ajibola Lawal; Secretary to the State Government,Prof. Musibau Babatunde Adetunji; Head of Service,Dr.Fasina Adenike,the immediate past Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni; Commissioners,
Principal Officers of Oyo State owned Tertiary Institutions and Permanent Secretaries,Civil Servants among other distinguished guests.
The ceremony featured prayers, goodwill messages and various activities marking the formal commencement of a new chapter in the lives of the newly wedded couple.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Owolabi expressed gratitude to God for making the wedding a reality and for granting her the privilege of witnessing her daughter’s special day.
She appreciated family members, friends, colleagues and other guests for their presence, prayers, goodwill and support, describing the occasion as a memorable milestone for the family.
The newly wedded couple received prayers and goodwill messages from guests, who wished them a peaceful, prosperous and fulfilling married life.
In her exhortation, the Pastor of the church, Pastor Biola Ajayi, urged the couple to build their marriage on the foundation of God, stressing that marriage should not be viewed as a 50/50 relationship.
According to her, “Marriage is not a 50/50 relationship; it is a situation where both couples bring 100/100.”
Making reference to Genesis 2:24, which speaks about a man leaving his father and mother and being united with his wife to become one flesh, Pastor Ajayi emphasised the importance of unity, commitment and mutual understanding in marriage.
She also highlighted what she described as key principles for a successful marriage, using the acronym MARRIAGE:
M – Maturity
A – Acceptance
R – Responsibility
I– Inspiration
A – Agreement
G – God
E – Enjoyment
She admonished the couple to allow God to remain at the centre of their marriage, urging them to make Him their priority and build their home on faith, love, mutual understanding, sacrifice and commitment.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity for colleagues and associates of the Provost to celebrate with her and share in the joy of the family.
The colourful event featured a variety of wedding activities, with guests joining the family to celebrate the union and wishing the couple a lifetime of love, peace, happiness and fulfilment.
