We must work harder to finish strong, says Makinde

.As gov swears in Ladipo as commissioner, effects minor cabinet reshuffle

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Monday, charged political appointees and public servants in the state to put in more efforts and work hard in the concluding months of the second term with a view to leaving a lasting impact in the state.

The governor stated this while swearing in Dr Taiwo Olabode Ladipo as a Commissioner, urging him to see his appointment for a second time as an opportunity to serve the state more.

The former Commissioner for Health, who until his new appointment, was the Permanent Secretary in charge of General Administration, will man the Ministry of Establishment and Training, while Prof Solihu Adelabu has been moved to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry.

Speaking at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, venue of the swearing-in event, Makinde said that his government will continue to make use of individuals that fit into its vision for the state.

The governor also used the opportunity to clear the air on the development that created the vacancy that Ladipo filled as commissioner, noting that relieving an appointee of his or her appointment should be seen as restructuring for better results.

While congratulating the newly-appointed commissioner, he charged him and other appointees to work harder in the concluding months of Omituntun 2.0, noting that it is imperative for the administration to finish strong and leave a lasting impact.

Governor Makinde urged political appointees and government officials in his administration to remain loyal to the government, discharge their duties effectively and put in their best for the continuous growth and development of the state.

The event had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal; Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; Secretary to the State Government, Prof Musibau Babatunde; immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo; Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, PhD; Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Adenike Fasina, mni; and Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Kazeem Adeniyi.

Others were Senior Executive Assistant to the Governor on General Duties, Chief Bayo Lawal; commissioners; chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission; Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe; and Permanent Secretaries; among others.
