Police to Arraign ‘Presidential Council’ DG Adeniyi Adeyemi Over Alleged Forgery, Impersonation
The Nigeria Police are set to arraign Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi, who paraded himself as the Director-General of a fictitious body known as the “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC,” at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
Adeyemi and two others are facing an eight-count charge of forgery, impersonation and other offences in a fresh suit marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025 filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor, Wisdom Madaki.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that when the case came up for plea on June 16, Adeyemi was said to be indisposed. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently adjourned the matter.
According to the charge sheet, the prosecution listed several witnesses including the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila; Paul Emmanuel; Jeremiah Imoukhede; and Ituah Sylvester.
Other witnesses are civil servants from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, OAGF, Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Also listed are Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, and Wakili Saidu, who were allegedly posted to work with Adeyemi at the non-existent agency. Others include Joy Ngwoke, owner of Kachi Hotel, Abuja, and Ven. Okoriko, Pastor of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama.
Documentary evidence to be tendered by the police include the investigation report; Gbajabiamila’s petition dated October 17, 2025; and Adeyemi’s alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.
Other exhibits are Adeyemi’s request for note verbale sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approvals he allegedly obtained to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, his request for self-accounting status sent to the OAGF, and the purported conveyance of approval for the take-off of PFIPC.
The prosecution also listed a letter requesting collaboration with the ministry on land acquisition and offices across the 36 states, statements of witnesses and defendants, and photographs.
The police said: “The prosecution shall at the trial call any other related witness or witnesses to prove its case.”
Adeyemi was alleged to have operated the fictitious agency from the 2nd Floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.
NAN also reports that President Bola Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, to conduct a thorough investigation into the activities of the fake agency.
The President gave the ICPC 30 days to complete the investigation.
