*How We Were Rescued: Oyo VP Recounts Hours in Captivity, Hails Security Agencies*

The Vice Principal of Community Grammar School, Oriire, Oyo State, Mrs. Folawe Alamu, has given details of how she, students and other teachers were rescued from kidnappers by security operatives.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, July 11, 2026, Mrs. Alamu said all security agencies involved worked together to secure their release unharmed.

According to her, personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Police, backed by intelligence from the Department of State Services, DSS, coordinated the operation that led to their freedom.

She also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies for their efforts.

“Every security operative tried so much and that is why we are still alive now. We are very grateful to you. Thank you very much,” she said.

A security source who pleaded anonymity said food supplies to the captors were sabotaged prior to the operation. The move, he said, weakened their stronghold and forced errors that led to their defeat.

The operation, which lasted several hours, resulted in the death of most of the captors, while others were arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation in DSS custody.

The rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers has triggered widespread reactions across the country. Mrs. Alamu’s account, however, confirms that security operatives were directly responsible for securing their freedom.
