Family Demands Probe as Man Allegedly Dies in Custody After FCT Mining Site Raid

The family of Yakubu Hassan, 30, has alleged that they found his lifeless body in a mortuary about a week after he was arrested during a security operation at an alleged illegal mining site in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Yakubu, a native of Rafin-Sanyi community in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, was reportedly arrested when security operatives raided the mining site.

According to family members, they searched for his whereabouts for several days after the arrest before eventually locating his body in a mortuary under circumstances they described as disturbing.

The family is demanding a thorough investigation into the incident and has called on authorities to explain the circumstances surrounding Yakubu’s death while in custody.

The development has sparked concern among residents and rights advocates, who have renewed calls for accountability, transparency, and respect for human rights during security operations.
