Woman Found Dead Amid Reported Relationship Issues
Police in Anambra State are investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman found in Onitsha on Thursday under circumstances they described as suspicious.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, a superintendent of police, said in a statement Saturday that a note was recovered at the scene suggesting the death was self-inflicted and linked to a relationship breakup.
Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for thorough investigation.
Orutugu said the incident highlights the need for stronger parental guidance, moral upbringing, and emotional support for young people. He urged parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children’s emotional well-being, social interactions, and behavioral changes.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property while working with stakeholders to address social concerns affecting public safety and well-being,” he said.
The commissioner also called on community leaders, schools, faith-based groups, and civil society organizations to intensify mentorship and advocacy programs that promote resilience and responsible living among youths.
He described the rising cases of social vices among young people as “worrisome.”
