VIDEO: Bandits Release Video Of Malnourished Children In Their Captivity

A video currently circulating online has shown some malnourished toddlers crying in bandits’ captivity.

In the video released by the bandits, the abducted children were seen crying as they lay on the bare floor, looking malnourished.

As of the time of filing this report, it is not clear which state in the country the children were kidnapped from or their exact location. 

Similarly, another video has shown armed bandits flaunting large sums of cash allegedly obtained from ransom payments, sparking fresh concerns over the worsening insecurity in Nigeria.

The footage was shared on Saturday by Bakatsine, a journalist known for reporting on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West region.

Bakatsine, who shared the video on his X account, wrote: “This video shows bandits flaunting money obtained through ransom payments. May Allah bring an end to this tragedy and grant Nigeria lasting peace.”

In recent years, the kidnapping for ransom industry has been booming, particularly in the North-West and parts of the North-Central, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted communities, travellers, schools and farmers. 

However, the assailants have expanded their operations to the Southern part of the country, abducting residents, travellers and killing some of their victims despite ransom payment.
