Oyo Protesters Chant ‘Tinubu Ole,’ Demand Release of Abducted Pupils and Teachers
Thousands of residents marched in Ibadan on Monday, chanting “Tinubu ole, Tinubu ole, release our teachers and children” as they demanded the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.
The protest, part of wider “End Insecurity” demonstrations held in Oyo State and other states, followed the May 15 abduction of 46 pupils and teachers from schools in Yawota and Esiele.
Protesters carried placards and blocked major roads, calling on President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government to intensify efforts to free the captives. Many of the abductees remain in captivity more than two weeks after the attack.
