Oorelope LG Debunks Reports of Kidnapped Victims’ Release

The Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State has denied reports circulating on social media that victims of a recent kidnapping incident in the council have been released.

In a statement issued Saturday, June 21, 2026 by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ogundiran Jacob Oluwale, the council said the reports are “false, misleading, and do not reflect the current reality on the ground.”

“The kidnapped victims are yet to regain their freedom,” Oluwale stated. “We urge members of the public to disregard any information suggesting otherwise unless it emanates from official and credible sources.”

He said security agencies at both state and local levels are making “concerted efforts” to secure the safe rescue of the victims. Relevant authorities, he added, have continued to deploy necessary resources and strategies to ensure a positive outcome.

While acknowledging that the situation remains a source of concern to residents, Oluwale said he is encouraged by the commitment and collaboration from security formations and individuals supporting the rescue efforts.

The chairman appreciated security agencies, stakeholders, community leaders and citizens who have provided assistance, intelligence, prayers and support during the period.

“The protection of lives and property remains a top priority of this administration, and no effort will be spared in ensuring the safe return of the victims,” he said.

Oluwale appealed for calm, vigilance and responsible dissemination of information as efforts continue to bring the situation to a successful resolution.
