Insecurity: ‘My Husband Now Sleeps at 3 a.m.— Says Remi Tinubu

Nigeria First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu said President Bola Tinubu “will sleep at 3:00 a.m.” as his administration works “round the clock” to tackle insecurity, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates.

She spoke Saturday at Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, during an engagement with traditional rulers as part of a one-day working visit to Ekiti State.

Tinubu said the administration is deepening domestic and international security collaborations to address kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.

“The U.S. and some other developed countries are helping us in this matter. Some of those terrorising us are non-Nigerians. No matter what happens, we shall overcome. Nigeria is too great to be intimidated,” she said.

“I can assure you, we don’t have Mondays or Sundays. The President is working round the clock to get this matter resolved. At times, Mr President will sleep at 3:00 a.m. and God has been faithful,” she added.

The First Lady urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and prayerful, saying collective effort is required to overcome security challenges.

She also cited interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative in Ekiti, including an ICT centre at Ekiti State University and scholarships worth over N200 million for students. About 2,000 traders have received N50,000 grants each, while elderly citizens and persons with disabilities continue to benefit from empowerment programmes, she said.

Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado, however called for urgent reforms to Nigeria’s security architecture.

He urged the Federal Government to strengthen anti-kidnapping laws and fast-track state police, arguing that decentralized policing would improve response times.
