Ex-Youth Parliamentarian, J’ICON Backs Falana Adebowale Ahead of 3rd Oyo Youth Parliament
Former Oriire State Constituency representative in the Oyo State Youth Parliament, Joshua Ojo Akin, also known as J’ICON, has expressed optimism that the 3rd Assembly will record greater impact under the leadership of Falana Adebowale, Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development.
Akin, who spoke with journalists after the valedictory sitting of the 2nd Assembly at the Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday, described Adebowale as “the right man for the job.” He said the chairman’s leadership has repositioned youth development in the state.
The immediate past lawmaker, who received an Outstanding Performance Award, commended Adebowale for his commitment to the youth-focused initiatives of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
“The Oyo State Youth Parliament remains one of the most important leadership development platforms for young people in our state,” Akin said. “Through the Parliament, we gained practical knowledge of legislative procedures, public policy, and responsible public service.”
He said Makinde’s appointment of Adebowale reflected a commitment to placing capable individuals in positions to deliver on the administration’s youth agenda.
“As the 2nd Assembly concludes and the 3rd Assembly begins, I am optimistic that under Hon. Falana Adebowale, the agency will strengthen the Youth Parliament with the support needed for greater impact,” he added.
Akin urged members of the incoming 3rd Assembly to serve with dedication and discipline. He also thanked the state government, the agency, mentors, and colleagues for supporting the 2nd Assembly.
“Though my tenure has ended, my commitment to the development of Oriire, Oyo State, and Nigeria remains steadfast. The journey continues,” he said.
