2027: Adekanmbi, Open Salawu Ticket to Deliver ‘Omituntun 3.0’ in Oyo

Ogbomoso-born politician and entrepreneur, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, has been unveiled as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, presented Salawu to party leaders, members, stakeholders, and loyalists on Wednesday at the APM Secretariat in Oke Ado, Ibadan.

Adekanmbi opened the event with a minute of silence for the teacher and security personnel killed in the recent Oriire Local Government abduction. He prayed for government and security agencies to secure the safe rescue of all abductees.

According to him, the Adekanmbi-Open Salawu ticket was formed to complement each other in sustaining the development of Oyo State as championed by Governor Seyi Makinde under Omituntun 1.0 and Omituntun 2.0 over the last seven years.

Lauding Makinde for achievements in human capacity building and infrastructure, Adekanmbi said his priority under “Omituntun 3.0” would be continuity of good governance.

He said the ticket would deliver impactful projects in infrastructure, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, healthcare, quality education, security of lives and property, tourism, and other dividends of democracy. He urged APM members and Oyo residents to support the party to victory at all levels in 2027.

“Oyo State has enjoyed welfare and security under Governor Makinde. Any serious administration must hand over to a capable team. That is the message of Omituntun 3.0,” Adekanmbi said.

“Engineer Muftau Open Salawu is a thoroughbred engineer who served as head of the state’s project monitoring team. He supervised all projects residents are proud of, ensuring they met required standards.

“We have had Omituntun 1.0 for accelerated development and Omituntun 2.0 for sustainable development. Omituntun 3.0 will be about continued development. Our team is ready for governance from day one. We are selling value, competence, and loyalty to Oyo State.”

In his acceptance speech, Open Salawu urged members to unite and support the ticket.

“Whatever our relationship, what matters in politics is winning. It is when we win that we can discuss positions. I accept to deputise Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and together we will take Oyo State to greater heights,” he said.

Earlier, Oyo APM Chairman Otunba Adegbenro Fagbemi thanked Governor Makinde and party leaders for the successful PDP-APM coalition, which he described as the first of its kind in the state. He urged stakeholders to support the candidates for victory in 2027.

Oyo PDP Chairman Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro and Chairman of the PDP Elders’ Council Dr. Saka Balogun said Adekanmbi was unanimously chosen without imposition. They appealed to aggrieved members to work for the party’s success.

Dignitaries at the event included PDP Deputy State Chairman Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; PDP Secretary Hon. Oyelami Oyeyemi Joel; Commissioner for Information Prince Dotun Oyelade; Commissioner for Youths and Sports Hon. Wasilat Adegoke; former Commissioner for Works and Transport Prof. Raphael Afonja; and party leaders from all 33 LGAs.
