Tinubu: No State Struggling to Pay Salaries Under My Watch

MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that President Bola Tinubu on Friday said no state in Nigeria is currently struggling to pay workers’ salaries, a sharp contrast to the situation before he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

The president spoke in Lagos while receiving members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, who paid him Sallah homage at his residence. The delegation was led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“I am glad that out of the 27 governors borrowing from the federal government and asking for interventions, we are no longer struggling to pay salaries. No more,” Tinubu said.

He thanked the governors for sustaining public trust in his administration, noting that their support had been critical to ongoing reforms.

“Many of you have survived and promoted the perseverance of our people, encouraging them to trust in this government. You have built that trust around one person: my leadership. I thank you very much,” he said.

The president also highlighted infrastructure prospects along the Sokoto-Badagry corridor, saying the route holds potential for dams that could boost irrigation, farming, and electricity generation.

“Today, I was watching some clips of the Sokoto-Badagry corridor. Imagine how many dams could be built along that corridor for irrigation, farming, and electricity generation,” Tinubu said.

He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to engage with the governors on shared development programs.

“I am truly grateful. I cannot express enough how thankful I am to Almighty God that we are here together to share our thoughts and developmental programs,” he added.
