Seyi Makinde is the Hope of the Common Man in the Street and Represents the Future of Nigeria – Oyo Majority Leader Sanjo Adedoyin Hails GSM Presidential Declaration
The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has described the presidential declaration of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as a bold and timely step towards rescuing Nigeria’s democracy and protecting the interests of ordinary citizens across the country.
Governor Makinde, popularly known as GSM, officially declared his presidential ambition yesterday, May 14th, at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan, under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). The declaration attracted political stakeholders, supporters, youth groups, and party faithful from different parts of the country.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Adedoyin stated that Governor Makinde remains “the hope of the common man on the streets and a symbol of the future Nigeria deserves.” According to him, the governor’s decision to join the presidential race reflects courage, patriotism, and a genuine desire to defend democracy and restore inclusive governance in Nigeria.
The Majority Leader noted that Governor Makinde, during his declaration, raised serious concerns about the increasing pressure and influence allegedly being exerted by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government in what he described as attempts to weaken opposition parties and turn Nigeria into a one-party state.
According to Hon. Adedoyin, “Governor Seyi Makinde has once again demonstrated leadership and bravery by standing up for democracy, political inclusiveness, and the future of the average Nigerian who continues to suffer economic hardship and political exclusion.”
He further explained that the governor’s emergence under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) signals the beginning of a new political movement focused on equity, accountability, youth inclusion, and people-oriented governance.
During his declaration speech at Mapo Hall, Governor Makinde reportedly emphasized his readiness to fight for the interests of the ordinary Nigerian, stressing that leadership must prioritize the welfare, security, and aspirations of the masses rather than personal or partisan interests.
Hon. Adedoyin described Makinde as a leader whose governance style in Oyo State has consistently reflected transparency, infrastructural development, workers’ welfare, and sustainable economic growth. He added that these achievements have positioned the governor as one of the few credible leaders capable of steering Nigeria towards progress and national unity.
The lawmaker also urged Nigerians, particularly youths and grassroots supporters, to rally behind the movement for a better Nigeria, noting that the country requires visionary leadership driven by competence, compassion, and courage.
He concluded by reaffirming his total support for Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition, expressing confidence that the movement would inspire hope among millions of Nigerians seeking for a new direction for the country.
“This is beyond politics; it is about the future of Nigeria and the survival of democracy. Governor Seyi Makinde represents hope, courage, and the voice of the common people,” Sanjo Adedoyin stated.
