Oyo Deputy Speaker, Fadeyi Denies Impeachment Plot Against Makinde, Reaffirms Loyalty
The Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, representing Ona Ara State Constituency, has strongly denied reports linking him to an alleged plot to destabilize the state or impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Fadeyi described the allegations as “baseless” and a “calculated attempt by mischief-makers” to tarnish his reputation.
He insisted he remains absolutely loyal to Governor Makinde and would never be part of any impeachment scheme.
The Deputy Speaker specifically refuted claims that he attended a strategic meeting convened by the Olubadan of Ibadanland and former Governor, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
“I wish to state categorically and for the record that I was never part of any meeting called by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, nor Florence Ajimobi or Zaccheus Adedeji, to discuss the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“I have the utmost respect for our traditional institutions, but I am not a party to any agenda that seeks to truncate the progress we have achieved under this administration.” Fadeyi said.
The lawmaker also dismissed rumors of a high-level meeting allegedly held last Thursday in Lagos, said to have been hosted by Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi at the behest of the Presidency.
The reported session allegedly included the late arrival of the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Hon. Zaccheus Adedeji, and focused on mobilizing resources to influence the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Fadeyi however described the claims “pure fiction,” stating he was not in Lagos for any such meeting and had no discussions on destabilizing the state government.
He said: “No amount of money is sufficient to subvert the collective will of the people. My integrity and commitment to the development of Oyo State far outweigh any pecuniary gain.”
The Deputy Speaker reiterated that his role in the Assembly is to serve, not to be bought, adding that he was never invited to or contacted about any meeting aimed at disrupting the peace of Oyo State through an impeachment process.
“Governor Makinde is performing well in all sectors, and his administration has been beneficial to the people of Oyo State since he assumed office,” Fadeyi added.
