Again, Oyo PDP Backs Olasunkanmi’s Senatorial Bid, Lauds His Accessibility

The consultation train for Barrister Olaleye Olasunkanmi, the Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, and his senatorial bid arrived in Oyo town today, where he met with leaders and stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Rt. Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, the Oyo State House of Assembly Chiefs’ Whip, welcomed the senatorial aspirant and his team to the consultative meeting with party leaders, elders, and stakeholders. He encouraged him to consider himself as one of them in Oyo and to openly share his intentions with the people.

Barrister Olaleye Olasunkanmi addressed the gathering, stating his commitment to serving the people rather than ruling over them. He noted that the consistent message from his consultations was the need for a good reward system, assuring them that the era of unrewarded work was over, representing a fresh start.

He emphasized that his experience in public service allowed him to understand the people’s needs, citing examples like the conversion of Alayande College of Education to Alayande University of Education, the revamping of the Oyo State – IITA Youth Incubation Centre in Awe, the designation of Oyo town as a distribution center for farm inputs, and the facilitation of several road constructions.

Hon. Sunday Akindele Ojo praised Olaleye for his regard for party members, urging him to remain true to himself when he achieves his goals, while also advocating for Oyo federal Constituency.

Hon. Lawal Adedeji Jagaban advised the senatorial hopeful to maintain relationships with influential leaders and to use his experience as a lawyer and public servant to foster development in the senatorial district.

Alhaji Kareem Moshood, who served with Olaleye on the Oyo State Land Allocation Committee, expressed his lack of surprise at the aspirant’s rise, highlighting his capacity and competence. He sought support from stakeholders in the Oyo zone for the barrister’s aspiration, emphasizing his connection to Oyo town.

Hon. Olusola Oluokun, Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, noted that Olaleye was accessible and approachable to the public.

Hon. Tirimisiyu Azeez, an Ex officio of the South West PDP Exco, prayed for Engr Seyi Makinde’s continued success and wisdom, praising his leadership in Oyo State.

Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, speaking on behalf of Senator Monsura Sunmonu and other stakeholders, affirmed the unity of the PDP in Oyo zone under Senator Sunmonu’s leadership and the importance of their support for any aspirant. He expressed confidence in a significant electoral victory for the zone.

Hon. Adegbite Isaiah Alaba highlighted the special bond between Oyo town and Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere State Constituency, which he believed would be strengthened through the support of party leaders and stakeholders in Oyo town. He commended them for their support of Governor Seyi Makinde, Alhaja Monsura Sunmonu, and the Party.
