“Victims Of Kishi–Igbeti Road Abduction Found Safe, Irepo Residents Assured Of Safety” – Hon TT Olayiwola

Four persons who were abducted by suspected kidnappers near the forest reserve around the Tesi area of the Kishi–Igbeti Road in Irepo Local Government on March 3, 2026, have been safely found. The incident involved the driver and three passengers of a vehicle traveling along the road, while other passengers in the vehicle reportedly escaped from the scene during the incident.

According to Salaudeen Abdulmuiz Tobi, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Chairman, the Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Hon. Tunde Taoheed Olayiwola, expressed relief over the safe recovery of the victims and thanked Almighty God for protecting them during the ordeal. The Chairman also appreciated the continuous support of the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE for its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

Hon. Olayiwola specially praised, appreciated, and commended the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal, for his unwavering support and proactive efforts in ensuring that there is no security breakdown within the axis, noting that his prompt attention and concern played a significant role in addressing the situation.

The Chairman further commended the swift intervention and tireless efforts of security agencies, local vigilante groups, and other stakeholders whose coordinated actions helped in addressing the situation promptly.

Hon. Olayiwola equally commended the cooperation and support of the Kishi Progressive Union (KPU) and the Palace for their concern and collaboration during the period, describing their commitment to the peace and safety of the community as highly commendable.

While expressing gratitude for the positive outcome, the Chairman noted that the incident highlights the need for sustained vigilance and stronger collaboration between government, security agencies, and community leaders. He assured residents that the local government would continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to strengthen security along major roads and within communities across Irepo Local Government.

He therefore urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and continue to support security agencies with useful information whenever necessary, stressing that collective efforts remain vital in safeguarding the peace, stability, and development of the local government.
