PHOTOS: Prince Ibrahim Asawale Asanike Hosts 1st Annual Ramadan Lecture and Prayer in Honor of Late Father, Oba Yesufu Asanike
Omooba Ibrahim Asawale Oloyede Asanike, Olori Omooba Tile Ibadan, has organized first public Ramadan lecture and special prayer in memory of his late father, Oba Yesufu Oloyede Asanike, at the family palace in Idi Aro, Ibadan.
The event, held on Tuesday, drew a large gathering of Muslim faithful, community leaders, and residents, promoting unity, reflection, and moral guidance during the holy month.
The lecture, themed “Birr al-Walidayn: A Forgotten Act of Worship”,” emphasized the rewards of kindness and duty to parents, as well as the consequences of disobedience. It also stressed the qualities of effective leadership: accountability, integrity, and selfless service to the people. These principles, drawn from Islamic teachings, are relevant to public representation and served as a timely reminder for leaders at all levels to embody justice, humility, and dedication in their roles.
Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju Katibi Aponle Anobi, while delivering a profound and insightful discourse, drawn on Quranic injunctions and prophetic traditions to illustrate the essence of being dutiful to parents, both in life and after death.
He highlighted the great importance and respect Islam places on parents, commanding Muslims to be kind, respectful, and obedient to them.
The lecturer also emphasized caring for and showing compassion to elderly parents and remembering them after they are gone, quoting Prophet Muhammad’s words that pleasing one’s parents is a means of attaining Allah’s pleasure and entering paradise.
Sheikh Olanrewaju however described Oba Yesufu Oloyede Asanike as a good traditional leader, noting that he should always be remembered for how he used his influence to protect the chieftaincy and traditional system of Ibadan land and help the sons and daughters of Ibadan.
The guest lecturer commended Prince Ibrahim Asawale Asanike and his elder brother for honoring their late father with the Ramadan lecture and special prayer, noting the bountiful rewards from Allah.
He prayed for Allah to forgive Oba Yesufu’s shortcomings, grant him Al Janat Firdaos, and accept the special prayer and Ramadan lecture as acts of Iba’dah.
In his welcome address, Prince Ibrahim Asanike appreciated all who attended the program and preached unity and peace among royal fathers in Oyo State, aiming to strengthen traditional institutions.
He expressed concern about the lack of support for the children of late Olubadans after their demise and called for redress to strengthen the royal lineage and heritage.
The Prince however expressed gratitude to all attendees, including Alhaji Chief Nureni Akanbi (Arole IBA OLUYOLE), Alhaja Modinat Adedibu YEYELUWA, Oloye Abiola Iyiola (Aare Onibon Olubadan tile Ibadan), Mogaji Jelil Oyediran, Mogaji Abass Oloko, Mogaji Ademola Olasomi, Alhaji Akande Bashiru Opulence, Oluyole Vice Chairman Akorede, Alhaji Moruf Yoboro, Alfa Tioja Chief Imam Fresh FM, Alhaji Taiwo Olofa Photography, Alhaja Fausat Olaide Iyaloja Rom, Alhaji Y.K Abass Babaloja Oyo State General, and Alhaji Dauda Akajewole, as well as his siblings.
Asawale Asanike also thanked the OBA YESUFU OLOYEDE ASANIKE ROYAL FAMILY, starting with Mogaji Abioye Oloyede Asanike San, the head of the family, Alhaji Sulaiman Asanike Baale Asanike Family, Alhaji Tirimisiyu Layoke Asanike Chief Imam Asanike Central Mosque,Prince Musbaudeen Asatota Asanike and other family members for their support, as well as his wife, Ayaba Oloyede Funmilayo Ajoke, whom he described as a gift from God.
Highlights of the event included the distribution of palliatives and staple foods to Muslims.
