Oyo Deputy Gov Condoles Iba Kishi over Death of Iyalode of Kishi, Chief Kemi Atunise

The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has extended condolences to the Iba of Kishi land, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Alhaji) Engr. Dr. Moshood Oyekola Aweda Lawal, Arowoduye II, and the entire Kishi Council of Chiefs, over the death of Iyalode of Kishiland, Chief (Mrs) Sariyu Kemi Adigun Atunise.

In a statement on Wednesday, Barr. Lawal described the news as a “rude shock” and a “painful loss”, noting that Chief Atunise’s death has created a vacuum in the Iba palace, her family, and the community.

He praised the late Iyalode as a woman of “exceptional virtue” and a promoter of peace and peaceful coexistence, whose commitment to Kishi’s progress and women’s empowerment was unwavering.

Barr. Lawal however prayed that God grant her soul eternal rest and give her family and the Kishi community the strength to bear the loss.

“It is with total submission to the will of Allah and a heavy heart that I receive the death of Iyalode of Kishiland, Chief (Mrs) Sariyu Kemi Adigun Atunise. Her death is a painful loss. May Almighty Allah comfort everyone she left behind and grant the Iyalode Aljannah Firdausi AMEEN”, the statement said.
