Gov. Aiyedatiwa Speaks On Impeachment Plot Against Deputy Gov. Adelami

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has debunked claims of an impeachment plot against his deputy, Olayide Adelami.

Naija News reports that the impeachment plot was reportedly tied to an internal ‘power tussle’ among political interests in Owo Local Government, Adelami’s hometown, as well as tensions involving the Commissioner for Finance, Isaacs Omowunmi, an ally of the governor.

Similarly, there have been speculations suggesting a rift between Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, with claims that certain members of the State House of Assembly were making moves to impeach Adelami.

However, speaking during the inauguration of the newly completed Ayegunle-Iwaro Oka road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area on Friday, Aiyedatiwa dismissed suggestions of discord between him and Adelami.

According to him, the purported impeachment scheme exists only in the imagination of political opponents bent on stirring unrest within his administration.

He said, “Mr Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, I acknowledged your presence here. Thank you for holding forth for me yesterday when I had to travel.

“Worthy amiable Deputy Governor. Some people are spreading one fake video. Those people want to hear words.

“They claimed they want to remove the deputy governor. For where? Where they did they want to remove him (deputy governor) from? Don’t answer them please; they are only looking for relevance. That can’t happen because I’m also a Prophet of God.”
