Excitement as Oyo Deputy Gov, Wife Decorate 3 Security Aides with New Rank
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has decorated three security aides from the Nigerian Police Force following their recent promotion.
The decoration ceremony, held on Wednesday, was marked by a memorable moment as the Deputy Governor’s wife, Chief (Mrs) Ajibola Lawal, also decorated her security aide, Mrs. Oyegbola Abiodun, one of the three newly promoted officers.
The officers — Olanipekun Abiodun, Ojo Adeyinka, Oyegbola Abiodun— were elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
In his brief remarks, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude that their promotion came while they were still serving under him.
He emphasized that his house remains open to everyone, fostering a collaborative environment. He congratulated the officers and commended their experience and dedication to duties.
“I pray that this promotion marks the beginning of a successful career. Guard your new rank with care, as it comes with increased responsibility. Do not abuse the rank,” he added.
Sharing from his own life experiences, the Deputy Governor noted that gradual progression to higher ranks, brings contentment and happiness.
He advised the officers to remain honest, diligent, and professional in their work, whilst charging young officers to be dedicated, assuring them that their time would come.
However, during a prayer session led in both Islamic and Christian traditions, Mr. Jubril and Mr. Femi remarked that the promotion was well-deserved, given the officers’ commitment.
They congratulated the Deputy Governor for the success of the decorated personnel and commended his leadership.
SP Biodun Odukoya, the administrative officer of Oyo state Government House, stressed that security is a shared responsibility and that higher ranks come with greater obligations.
She advised the officers to avoid making enemies, to familiarize themselves with their postings before acting, and to adhere to police standards.
“Public relations are crucial; prioritize it over money. Don’t chase money excessively,” she said.
Mr. Kazeem Oyetola, Sectional Head, SIB, Oyo State Government House, added that the officers should listen attentively, observe keenly, and speak judiciously, emphasizing the weight of their new rank.
He welcomed them to the Superintendent cadre and noted that they were fortunate to be recognized by the Oyo State Deputy Governor.
