El-Rufai Detained by EFCC, DSS Reopens Dadiyata Case

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was detained at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja following interrogation over an alleged N432 billion corruption probe. He also faces criminal charges related to the alleged bugging of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu’s phone.

The EFCC’s investigation stems from a 2024 report by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, accusing El-Rufai’s administration of financial misappropriation. The report alleged that about N423bn was siphoned under the El-Rufai administration.

Simultaneously, the DSS has reopened investigations into the 2019 disappearance of Abubakar Idris (Dadiyata), with El-Rufai and his sons under scrutiny. A security source confirmed that the DSS seized El-Rufai’s passport to prevent him from traveling abroad.
