LG Chairmen Praise Makinde’s Move to Revive Oyo Council of Obas After 14-Year Hiatus

The Oyo State Local Government Chairmen Forum has lauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s inauguration of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, saying it’s a bold step to boost traditional institutions.

The council, revived after 14 years, will strengthen peace, unity, and harmony among communities.

The chairmen, in a statement signed by Hon. Sikiru Sanda and Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo on Thursday, highlighted the council’s role in advising government, boosting grassroots mobilisation, and supporting security.

They congratulated traditional rulers, especially Olubadan Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who’s chairing the council for 2 years.

The inauguration, attended by over 40 monarchs, saw the governor pledge support for traditional institutions 

The LG chairmen however assured their cooperation, promising to promote peace, security, and development.
