We are with Gov. Makinde, not leaving PDP— Ex ward chairmen in Ogbomoso North declare
In a bid to dispel persistent rumors, the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. George Gbadegesin Ogunlade, on Wednesday held a strategic meeting with the ten former ward chairmen at the Local Government Quarters, Ogbomoso.
The gathering aimed to address speculations suggesting that the former ward leaders were planning to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Of the ten former chairmen, only three currently serve again as ward chairmen, while seven remain former officeholders.
According to a statement issued by the Chairman’s media aide, Alade Toheeb, the delegation, led by the respected Baba J.O Folorunsho—categorically dismissed the defection rumors.
They reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the PDP, insisting that there was never any plan to leave the party.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the former Aguodo/Masifa ward chairman, Baba J.O. Folorunsho, made their stance unequivocal:
“PDP is our party here in Ogbomoso North. We have been in this party from the beginning, and we are not going anywhere. We attend our meetings, we stay committed, and we remain loyal to our leader, Governor Seyi Makinde. No one is planning to decamp.”
Ogbomoso North PDP Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Sikiru Idowu, however commended the former ward chairmen for boldly defending their integrity and reaffirming the unity of the party.
“This party belongs to all of us in Ogbomoso North. As long as PDP remains PDP, we will continue to work together. I appreciate the former ward chairmen for standing united and debunking the falsehood being circulated,” he said.
He assured them that the party remains committed to cooperation and emphasized that the PDP’s strength lies in the loyalty and unity of its members.
In his remarks, Executive Chairman Hon. George Gbadegesin Ogunlade expressed gratitude to the former chairmen for their consistent involvement in party activities despite no longer holding formal positions.
He noted that they have continued to attend ward and local government meetings faithfully.
“Since assuming office, I have made it a priority to listen to all party members because I understand the structure—I once served as a party chairman myself,”he said.
Describing the defection rumors as entirely baseless, Hon. George reiterated that no member—former or serving—is being sidelined in Ogbomoso North PDP. He assured the chairmen that all commitments made to them would be upheld.
He further emphasized that he rejects the idea that those who defect from a party are “paperweights,” noting that every individual matters in politics.
“No one should be dismissed in politics; a single vote can determine victory. We are united in Ogbomoso North, and we will continue to work together as we approach 2027. PDP is our party, and His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde remains our leader,” he concluded.
The meeting ended on a note of renewed confidence and strengthened unity, sending a clear message:
Ogbomoso North PDP remains united, focused, and moving forward.
