Oyo Commissioner for Estab. And Training Appreciates H.E. Makinde, His Co-Pilot, Bayo Lawal  as He Bags UNILORIN Alumni Award of Recognition

Prof. Abdulwaheed Soliu Adelabu, the Oyo State Commissioner for Establishments and Training, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, his Co-pilot Barr Bayo Lawal, and the Baamòfin of Kishi Land for the opportunity to serve the state while he was Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology. He made the remarks while receiving the Alumni Award of Recognition from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), an honor celebrating his outstanding contributions to the development of education in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Prof. Adelabu noted that the award reflects not only personal achievement but also the support, mentorship, and leadership he received from the state government. “I am deeply grateful to H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, his Co-pilot Barr Bayo Lawal, and the Baamòfin of Kishi Land for entrusting me with the responsibility to pilot the affairs of the Ministry of Education, which allowed me to showcase my abilities and capabilities,” he said.

The award was presented during the Golden Jubilee Symposium Programme, as the UNILORIN Alumni Association marked its 50th anniversary, held at the Banquet Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on 8th November 2025. The event featured the theme “Excellence Beyond Academics”, delivered by the distinguished guest speaker, Prof. Patrick Loch Utieno Lumumba. Prof. Adelabu also thanked other stakeholders who provided platforms to implement impactful programs and emphasized that the recognition from UNILORIN motivates him to continue advancing professional development and capacity building across the state.

The UNILORIN Alumni Award of Recognition is conferred on distinguished alumni who have made remarkable contributions in their fields and positively impacted society. Prof. Adelabu joins a select group of leaders celebrated for their dedication, service, and visionary approach to governance and institutional development.
