Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) uncovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a precision raid on a bandits’ hideout in Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, The Bureau News learned on Sunday.

Acting on credible intelligence about weapons stockpiling, troops stormed a location in Rawaya Village, near Kazok. According to the JTF OPEP Media Information Officer, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the notorious suspect fled moments before arrival, but a thorough search followed.

* Two AK-47 rifles

* One G3 rifle

* One revolver pistol

* Four AK-47 magazines; Three G3 magazines

* 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition

* Four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition

* Three mobile phones and other sundry items

Zhakom said the items are in military custody for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and collaborators. He added that Operation Enduring Peace remains “decisive in its onslaught” to keep the Joint Operations Area safe.
