More Than a Chairman: Hon. George Ogunlade’s Unifying Leadership By Alade Toheeb

“A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader; a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves.” This quote by Eleanor Roosevelt perfectly captures the leadership style of Hon. George Gbadegesin Ogunlade, Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government.

In a time when division and distrust often dominate our political landscape, Hon. George Ogunlade stands tall as a unifying figure – a true bridge builder who has earned the respect and admiration of the people through consistent, people-centered leadership.

In every corner of Ogbomoso North, from Sabo to Isale-ora, you’ll find examples of his inclusive governance. He listens, not just to the loudest voices in the room, but to the market women at Wazo Market, the artisans at Owode, the youth groups in Okelerin, and the elderly in Oja-Igbo. His door is always open, and his phone rarely silent. He believes leadership is service, not showmanship.

What sets Hon. George apart is not just his ability to listen, but his commitment to act. He doesn’t promise roads—he gets them graded. He doesn’t talk about youth empowerment—he ensures youth are part of the conversation and the solution. Just recently, a group of young graduates who returned to Ogbomoso frustrated by joblessness were offered SUBEB and TESCOM jobs, and today, many of them are thriving workers. Another instances are Amotekun building gifted Amotekun Security and 35 solar streetlights in Isale Afon ward. That’s bridge-building in action.

Inside his cabinet, fairness is a guiding principle. He carries every appointee along, giving each person the space to contribute meaningfully. No one feels sidelined. Whether you’re from Abogunde Ward or Isale Afon, your opinion matters. The spirit of equity, balance, and mutual respect thrives under his leadership.

His approach to party affairs also reflects this inclusiveness. Across all ten wards, party members often testify to his even-handedness in distributing opportunities and carrying everyone along, irrespective of affiliations or preferences. The party is stronger because of the bridges he has built, not just between politicians but between politicians and the people.

In a nation that is often fragmented along religious, ethnic, and political lines, Hon. George Ogunlade is modeling a different kind of leadership—one rooted in empathy, justice, and unity. He reminds us that politics should not divide, but rather serve as a tool to bring us closer.

Hon. George Ogunlade is not just leading Ogbomoso North—he is lifting it.
