RAMADAN: Afonja extends greetings to Muslims, charges on spiritual cleansing

An Ogbomoso-born young politician, Professor Abdulrahman Raphael Afonja (PARA), has extended his warm felicitations to Oyo Muslim Community and beyond over commencement of month of Ramadan.

Afonja, in a statement on Saturday, charged Muslims on spiritual cleansing in the holy month as they abstain from food and drinks for 29 or 30 days.

He equally urged them to come together to support those in need, extend kindness to their neighbours, during the period of fasting which are major pillars in Islam.

The statement read: “As the holy month of Ramadan begins, I extends my warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters. This sacred time of reflection, prayer, and fasting is a reminder of the importance of faith, compassion, and community.

“The Holy month of Ramadan is an opportunity for our Muslim brothers and sisters to deepen their relationship with Allah, promote life of sacrifice, charity and love for one another.

“Let’s imbibe the values of self-discipline, compassion, and generosity, which Ramadan represents, as well as foster harmony among all religious and ethnic groups within the community.

“It is my prayer that this Ramadan will bring you and your loved ones peace, prosperity, and abundant blessings. Ramadan Kareem.”
