Protecting FIBSA’s Reputation: A Call for Order and Constitutional Compliance
To restore tranquility and safeguard the reputation of FIBSA, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Students’ Affairs, in conjunction with distinguished personalities in the region, have issued a directive ordering the extrajudicially inaugurated FIBSAEC to desist from masquerading as the authentic FIBSAEC.
This was contained in a statement signed by FIBSA National President, Comrade Adeleke Adeola Abayomi, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the FIBSA President’s term in office and the secretive inauguration orchestrated by Deputy Senate President Sen. Oyeyemi Qaudri. O have sparked widespread controversy and discontent among FIBSA members, leaders, and executives.
This blatant and unconstitutional move blatantly disregards Article 10, Section 1 of the FIBSA Constitution, which clearly states that the Electoral Commission must be established by the Senate Arm and approved by the Executive Council, comprising 7 distinguished members of impeccable character nominated by their respective senators.
The myriad irregularities surrounding the sitting, inauguration, and dissolution of the executives , which were executed in contravention of the FIBSA constitution and the stipulated tenure, have precipitated profound difficulties and exacerbating tensions within the FIBSA .
To protect the reputation of FIBSA, it is imperative that all postings related to the election be suspended forthwith, until a viable solution to the existing issue has been devised.
We appreciate the contributions of all FIBSAITES and leaders in addressing this matter and urge everyone to exercise patience as we work towards finding a solution to the issues that have been causing problems within FIBSA.
Let us not forget that Ibarapa land is our ancestral home, and we must zealously guard its honor and reputation, for ‘a house is only as strong as its foundation.’
