Flush bandits out of Oyo— Makinde charges military
Oyo state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has charged the military to flush out bandits out of the state.
Governor Makinde made this charge on Friday at Oja’ba Central Mosque during the Jumat Service to commemorate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2025.
Recall that Governor Makinde, in his remarks on Monday at the 2025 Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, stated that there was information that some bandits are currently residing in villages near Fashola.
Governor Makinde who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal at the Jumat Service described the Armed Remembrance Day as a solemn day in the anal of military in Nigeria.
He noted that efforts and contributions of the Nigeria Armed Forces can not be overlooked, especially in the area of peace and tranquility and meaningful development.
Barrister Lawal maintained that the government of Oyo State acknowledged the effort of the Nigeria Armed Forces in keeping the country together.
“Governor Seyi Makinde’s led administration will not stop at nothing in reducing rate of crime and criminalities to the barest minimum in the state.”
“I’m urging the military to double the effort towards ensuring that bandits are wipe away from Oyo State.”
“Today is a special day in the calendar of Nigeria Armed Forces, without peace and tranquility there is nothing we can do, we are here today to share the remembrance of our falling heroes, they have paid the highest prize, our fallen heroes paid the supreme prize which is the highest anyone can offer, we have to celebrate them, if not for their efforts, perhaps Nigeria would have been divided into pieces.
“Just recently we had informations that some bandits are residing somewhere in the state, I’m using this medium to charge our Military to swing into action by flushing them out.”
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ibadaland, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere cited the era of Prophets Daud, and Adams as a great example to described the efforts of the Nigeria Armed Forces.
Sheikh Abdulganiy who read from Quran 2 verse 251, commended the military’s efforts to maintain peace and defend the nation’s sovereignty, he expressed his appreciation for Governor Seyi Makinde’s achievements in the state, acknowledging the governor’s efforts in promoting peace and development.
Also Speaking the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army Ibadan, Major General Obinna, Onubogu, represented by Brigadier General Haruna Ibrahim, lauded the support various security agencies have been enjoying under Seyi Makinde’s administration, pledging that the military would continue to ensure peace and tranquility in the state.
