BREAKING: Lagos Assembly elects Oniru’s sister, Moji Meranda as Speaker, Mojeed Fatai Deputy Speaker
Members of Lagos state house of assembly have elected Hon Mojisola Meranda, who was Obasa’s deputy as Speaker, while Mojeed Fatai is the new deputy speaker.
Hon Meranda representing Apapa constituency is the younger sister of Oniru of Iruland, HRH Oba Omogbolahan Lawal.
They were elected following the removal of Mudashiru Obasa over allegations of multiple statutory and financial infractions.
MOUTHPIECE NGR earlier gathered that Staff and management of the Lagos State House of Assembly are currently held bound within the Assembly complex by fierce-looking security men this morning.
This shocking event is happening at a time members of the House are on recess just after passing the budget.
Nobody knows the motive behind this action and where it is coming from.
However, this is just a wakeup call to Nigerians that enemies of democracy may be at it this morning.
None of the heavily-armed security officers is saying anything, but they have barricaded the entrances to the Assembly.
Sources witiin the house of assembly however told Newsnowonline.com.ng that the heavy presence of the security men may be connected with the planned removal of Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is said to be holidaying abroad at the time of filling this report.
The source told this medium that his face off with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is embarrassing to the state.
He is likely to be replaced by a lawmaker from Eti-Osa, Olokoyede Yishawu.
