LAUTECH FIBSA emerges winner of debate competition

December 28, 2024, the stage is set for a showdown of intellectual giants. The FIBSA Week culminates in the Grand Finale of the inter-tertiary institutions debate competition, promising an unforgettable spectacle of logic, creativity, and oratory brilliance at the Aridunnu Multipurpose Hall, Igboora.
This intellectually charged contest brings together exceptional debaters from great institutions boasting FIBSA chapters. The distinguished participants include:
Olatoyinbo Ayomide Pamilerin, a Medicine and Surgery, representing the LAUTECH FIBSA Chapter.
Babarinde Esther Abolaji, pursuing Community Health, representing the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology FIBSA Chapter.
Adeleke-Leo Adam, an Architecture student, representing the University of Ibadan FIBSA Chapter.
Ogundepo Promise, studying Architecture, representing the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University FIBSA Chapter.
Joseph Ayodele Jonathan, an English Language , representing the TASUED Chapter.
Omilana Blessing, studying SLT/Microbiology, representing the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology FIBSA Chapter.
Lawal Barakat Moromoke, a Mass Communication student, representing The Polytechnic of Ibadan FIBSA Chapter.
Ogunwale David Olaoluwa, a Civil Engineering student, representing the Oke Ogun Polytechnic FIBSA Chapter.
As these cerebral luminaries assemble this morning, grasping the microphone with conviction, the ambiance is galvanized by an insatiable intellectual curiosity. The competition promises to be a riveting spectacle of sagacity, eloquence, and strategic acumen, leaving FIBSAITES in suspense, pondering who will emerge victorious. The debaters present their arguments with sapience and audacity, showcasing their exceptional oratory skills and incisive thinking.
As the debaters deliver their outstanding presentations, the distinguished panel of judges meticulously evaluates their performances. The esteemed Chief Judge, Alhaji Ramon Onikole, Deputy Registrar of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, is joined by co-judges Comrade Sunday Adetoro and Comrade Bakare Jamiu. Comrade Sangotunde Taiwo diligently serves as Timekeeper. Prior to the commencement of the competition, the Chief Judge read out the governing rules and regulations to the debaters, ensuring a transparent and impartial assessment, devoid of favoritism.
Following the debaters’ exceptional presentations, the inevitable moment of truth arrived, and a winner was declared. Olatoyinbo Ayomide Pamilerin, the outstanding representative of LAUTECH FIBSA Chapter, emerged victorious, securing the top position with an impressive total score of 93. In recognition of his exemplary performance, FIBSA awarded him a commendable sum of #50,000.
Babarinde Esther Abolaji, the talented representative of the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology FIBSA Chapter, secured the second position with an admirable score of 91, earning her a notable award of #30,000.
Adeleke-Leo Adam, the remarkable representative of the University of Ibadan FIBSA Chapter, claimed the third position with a respectable score of 89.
The FIBSA President, Comrade Adeola Abayomi Adeleke, presented certificates of participation to the debaters, while the Rector of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Professor Akinola Kehinde Akinlabi, ceremoniously presented the cash awards to the top three debaters.
The triumphant debaters were ecstatic, and their chapters’ members jubilantly celebrated their success, unable to contain their euphoria as they departed the venue.
