Bisi Oluranti empowers students, distributes educational materials across schools in Ogbomoso North Constituency
As part of her efforts to encourage academic performance, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Micheal, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, distributed 200 school bags and 5,000 exercise books to students from JSS 1 to SS 3 on Monday.
The lawmaker said that education should be taken seriously because it is our passport to the future and that those who prepare for it today will own it tomorrow.
She also distributed more than 500 chalks to schools in her constituency and awarded WAEC scholarship to about 100 SS3 students.
During presentation of the learning materials to pupils at Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, Hon. Bisi Oluranti described the exercise as a continuous project and noted that every child deserved to be properly educated.
She said: “Meeting the needs of my Constituents are not a one time thing, I know the pain of wanting a quality education, and with little or no access to basic resources to aid learning for pupils, If I could achieve something in life despite a humble beginning, then using my office to cushion the effect on parents/guardians comes with great joy to me.
“I urge the pupils to strive hard for academic excellence and to make us proud parents, towards a sustainable future development.”
The lawmaker further stated that the program was held to recognize the young talents who have made an immense contribution to our school and the society.
These brilliant students, according to her, exhibit such qualities that will not only help them in achieving their goals, but also bring glory of success to their schools and academy.
In addition, Hon. Bisi Oluranti hinted that part of her efforts to support academic excellence was providing the school needs such as chalk and other Stationery Materials to aid teaching in the school across Ogbomoso North constituency.
She insisted that the awards were given out not only to honour students who had excelled academically but also as a way to encourage academic excellence, inspire her constituency’s schools, students, and school administration, and give back to the community.
Among those who attended the event were Political, Community, Religious and Traditional Stakeholders who applauded Hon Bisi Oluranti for her exceptional Representation of the Constituency at the State Assembly.
They included Dr Saka Balogun, Chairman Advisory Committee, Hon. Goerge Ogunlade, Executive Chairman Ogbomoso North LG, Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, Executive Chairman Ibarapa East LG and his wife, Prof. Fatai Adeniyi (Speaker of the Day from University of Ibadan) and his wife, Hon. Sunday Bankole, PDP State Treasurer, Hon. Lanre Oladeji, OYHA commission Board Member, Hon. Jide Oketunbi, Hon. Amzat Ibrahim, PDP Acting Chairman Ogbomoso North LG, League of Principals and head teachers, and host of others.
