One notable concerned group, whose voice is strident in the call for government’s urgent attention, is the Ogbomoso caucus of Oyo State Youth Parliament who had detailed and conveyed to the President of the Country, Bola Tinubu the dilapidated state of the road, particularly the Ogbomoso portion of the road.

After submission of the letter on Thursday through the Acting federal Controller of Works – Mr. Aina Kalawole Victor at his Oyo State field headquarters office, federal secretariat, Ikolaba Ibadan, Hon. Joshua Ojo A. PRO of the Ogbomoso caucus made available to the journalists the receipt copy of the six paged letter to the President titled: “URGENT APPEAL FOR REHABILITATION OF ‘TRUNK A’, OGBOMOSO TOWNSHIP ROAD” countersigned by the Chairman and Secretary of the young parliamentarians, Hons. Major content of the letter reads: “His Excellency Sir, the Truck A (25km), Oyo-Ogbomoso Road/A1 Road which is a critical artery connecting major towns and cities of south-western and northern region of the country, however, the current state of the Takie-junction to Caretaker (~1.5km) portion of the road poses significant risks to commuters, damages vehicles, and hinders economic free-flow and growth, in fact there is a total stand-still at the moment.”

“It is no longer news that the wretched road has gotten hundreds of perishable goods-carrying trucks stuck for too long, rendering their contents damaged, a very catastrophic menace to the economic and food security framework of any country.”

They continued: “Most significantly, several lives were lost and the unfortunate toll is on the increase by day. Just a few weeks ago, about 6 precious lives were lost when a confused truck fell and emptied its flour content over their head around Nigeria Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS).

“His Excellency, we humbly request that your administration declares the road a priority project by directing the Federal Ministry of Works to expedite construction and by allocating necessary funds for its rehabilitation to ensure timely completion and maintenance.”

“In conclusion Mr. President, we trust that your commitment to infrastructure development and national growth will prompt swift action. We look forward to your timely intervention as we anticipatedly beholds a new Ogbomoso community where we can have an increase in accessibility and connectivity, improved road-safety and reduced accidents, enhanced economic growth and development and most importantly a better quality of life for residents and commuters.”
