Edo Speaker defies Obaseki, congratulates Okpebholo
The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has congratulated the governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Agbebaku, a PDP member, sent his good wishes to the Okpebholo at the resumption of plenary on Wednesday.
Agbebaku said the governor-elect was for the Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress alone, praying that sycophants would not mislead him.
He said, “I congratulate the governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo on his victory at the just concluded governorship election in the state.
“The governor-elect was for Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress alone and prayed that sycophants do not mislead him.”
Meanwhile, the leadership of the PDP in the state were yet to congratulate Okpebholo insisting that the election results were manipulated in favour of the governor-elect.
It should be recalled that the Speaker, a member of PDP representing Owan West constituency at the State House of Assembly lost his local government at the election to APC.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo, defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo with 291,667 votes as against 247,274 votes.
