MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that Nigeria Federal Government has handed over sixty-four 100-capacity CNG buses to organized labour and student unions.
This was known on Sunday via a Facebook post of Segun Dada, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on social media.
He wrote: “President Bola Tinubu’s administration has fulfilled its promise to the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) by delivering 64 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses with a 100-capacity each to Labour and student leaders at the State House in Abuja.”
Meanwhile the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Youth Development, had earlier announced plans to launch the first phase of a project to distribute 2,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered tricycles to young Nigerians on October 1, 2024.
Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawale, made this known at a news conference on Friday, saying the distribution of the tricycles was part of activities marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary celebration.
He explained that the initiative would ensure that tricycle riders, who are mostly youth, would spend only 20 per cent of what they currently spend on petrol, adding that it would also improve their profit and generally reduce the cost of transportation for their passengers.
