NANS Leadership Conference recognizes Fedpoffa Rector, Dr. Kamoru Kadiri, as the Most Performing Rector

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has honoured the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa (Fedpoffa), Dr. Kamoru O. Kadiri, with the award of Most Performing Rector in Nigeria.

The award presentation took place during the 2024 NANS Leadership Conference held at the institution’s 1000-capacity auditorium in Kwara State on August 29, 2024, convened by Comr. Kolawole Mayowa Sodiq.

The conference, themed “Leadership, Advocacy, and Action: Combating Drug Abuse in Nigerian Campuses,” brought together student leaders, educators, policymakers, and experts in drug abuse prevention.

Discussions centred on the alarming rise of drug abuse in tertiary institutions and the role of leadership in curbing the menace.

In his welcome address, Dr. Kadiri reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting a drug-free campus environment and ensuring the well-being of its students. He also highlighted some of the strides made under his leadership, including significant improvements in staff development, research funding, and academic partnerships.

Since assuming office in April 2023, Dr. Kadiri has spearheaded several initiatives, including collaborations with international organizations and groundbreaking research projects, positioning Fedpoffa as a leading institution in Nigeria.

The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the award by the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, who was represented by Special Assistant on Student Affairs, Comr. Salami Wasiu Onidugbe. In his remarks, the Governor commended Dr. Kadiri for his exceptional leadership and contributions to the educational sector.

NANS, in its report submitted to the Federal Ministry of Education, praised the Rector’s remarkable achievements and leadership, particularly in combating challenges such as drug abuse within the institution.

The association also pledged to continue working with key stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the strategies discussed during the conference to create a safer learning environment for students across Nigeria.

Dignitaries present at the conference include the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Third Mamman OON SAN who was represented by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Egbewole; Provost, College of Health Technology, Offa; NANS Senate President; Comr Akinteye Babatunde; as well as representative from ZETSI Africa; Nigerian Police Force; NSCDC; and NDLEA.
