Oyo lawmaker, Sanjo Adedoyin calls on FERMA to repair deplorable federal roads within Ogbomoso township
Oyo lawmaker representing Ogbomoso South State Constituency, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has called on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to swiftly address the critical issue of deplorable roads in the state.
He made the call at Tuesday’s plenary sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honorable Abiodun Fadeyi while moving a motion on ‘Need to Urgently Call On The Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) To Repair And Rehabilitate The Deplorable Federal Roads Within Ogbomoso Township.”
According to Adedoyin, considering the hardship the residents and commuters are passing through presently when plying Ogbomoso township road which is a Federa road, FERMA needs to urgently carry out an emergency repair on this road to ease vehicular movement and ameliorate hardship being faced by road users in no distance time.
He stated that the deplorable federal roads in Ogbomoso has significantly impacted daily lives, businesses, and transportation networks in the zone, stressing that the road that passes through Ogbomoso High school is in a serious deplorable condition which causes traffic on daily basis.
The lawmaker, however, appealed to FERMA to rehabilitate the road within Anchioc Baptist Church opposite Bowen Teaching Hospital, seminary Emayo irorun Agbe, Care taker junction Waska.
He equally appealed to the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works to expedite action on the completion of the ongoing Oyo-Ogbomoso Road to reduce pressure on old Oyo-Ogbomoso Road that passes through Ogbomoso township which according to him, usually caused serious grid lock within Ogbomoso.
In addition, Adedoyin urged the Oyo House of Assembly to invite the Officials of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Southwest, to explain the circumstance surrounding the deplorable condicion of Federal road that passes through Ogbomoso township which was repaired a year ago.
In its resolution, the Assembly, however, acknowledged the constitutional mandate of FERMA to maintain federal roads nationwide and called upon the agency to deploy immediate resources and expertise towards repairing and rehabilitation of the affected federal roads not only in Ogbomoso zone but across Oyo State.
The House equally emphasized the importance of timely intervention to prevent further deterioration and mitigate the hardships faced by residents and commuters and its impact on the socioeconomic development of the state.
