First Day In Office: Atiba LG Chairman Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, Inaugurates Councilors As Kayode Emerges Leader of the House

It’s the era of restoration legacy at the Royal Council as Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem assumed office on Tuesday as democratically elected Executive Chairman of Atiba Local Government Offa-meta, Oyo, marking his first day in office with the Inauguration of the local legislative arm.
The event which took place at the Chairman’s office, Offa-meta Oyo, had in attendance all elected councilors including party leaders, stakeholders, party stalwarts, local executives, Heads of local government administration (HLGA), Director of Finance (DF), Director of administration and general service (DAGS) and several others.
Speaking at the event, the PDP Party Chairman in Atiba local government, Hon Kabiru Ashamu, who gave praises and adoration to God Almighty for making the Inauguration a reality, assured the chairman and Councilors of adequate support of the party.
The Vice-chairman in his remarks equally appreciated the support of the party leaders, stakeholders, stalwarts while assuring the staff and residents of productive achievement within 100 days in office.
The council boss, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, also thanked the party in his remarks at the event, acknowledging their support throughout his campaign, and post-election period till the official Inauguration by Oyo State’s Executive Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE.
According to him; “Today, as I stand before you, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the ample opportunity bestowed upon me by Almighty Allah to witness this momentous occasion—the swearing-in event of our esteemed Atiba Councilors.
“This is a day of celebration, a day to acknowledge the trust placed in our representatives, and a day to renew our commitment to the progress and prosperity of our beloved community”.
“First and foremost, I extend my deepest gratitude to Almighty Allah for guiding us to this moment and for bestowing upon us the wisdom and strength to embark on this journey together. His blessings have illuminated our path and filled our hearts with hope for a brighter future for Atiba.
He commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, which according to him, his visionary leadership continues to inspire us all as well as his untiring devotion to the well-being of our state and his commitment to comprehensive governance is no doubt a testament to his noble character and profound sense of duty.
“To Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, my wonderful mother and a beacon of strength and integrity, I owe her a debt of gratitude beyond words. Her true support and guidance have been a source of inspiration to me and countless others. Her tireless advocacy for our community’s interests has earned her our deepest respect and admiration.
“I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Kamil Akinlabi, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, the Atiba PDP Chairman, the PDP leaders in Atiba, the Chairman and members of the campaign committee, and all PDP members who have worked tirelessly to bring us to this moment. Your dedication, passion, and commitment to our shared cause have been helpful in our success”.
While promising a good working relationship with the staff and Ad-hoc Staff together with his vice chairman and Councilors, the Chairman stressed that visionary growth and development of the Royal Council remains his topmost priority.
He added that their cooperation and assistance will help in moving the council to the greater health.
“As we embark on this new chapter, I offer a few pieces of advice to our ten councilors representing their wards: be dutiful, accessible, and attentive to the needs of your constituencies. Also, Listen to the voices of your people, for they are the heartbeats of Atiba.
The chairman however urged them to be effective and effective in the discharge of their services, and always be mindful of the impact of their actions on the lives they represent.
” Do not forget, that you are elected to promote, to develop your wards”, he said.
In truth, our governance and administration shall be discharged openly to the Atiba people. Employment opportunities for the youths, Agricultural rebirth, and digital economy. We will welcome constructive and positive criticism to better Atiba, committed to working towards Atiba’s height.
He further mentioned that support and genuine faith in collective abilities fill us with confidence and determination as we embark on this journey together. With your continued support; “I am confident that we will achieve great things for the people of Atiba”. Wabkem affirmed.
During the ceremony, the oath of allegiance was performed by the Director of administration and general service, Mr. Abodunrin.
Equally, the Initiation of the first sitting of Atiba legislative arm was done by the appointment of House leader following a motion moved by Kazeem Bello Kolawole representing Ward one (01), and seconded by Oluwasegun Gabriel, representing Ward (09) to appoint Hon. Ademola Kayode as the Leader and other principal officers respectively.

Majority Leader: Hon. Adewale Afeez Abiodun
Chief Whip: Hon. Musa Kaosarat Oriyomi
The maiden parliamentary session was witnessed by the director of administration and general service, Atiba local government, Mr. Ademola Abodunrin, Executive Chairman, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, Vice-chairman Hon. Badmus Olaide Ismail, Atiba First Lady, and prayer was offered by religion Clerics and several others.
