It’s Ayilara vs Imam—𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧 Ogbomoso finally breaks silence on Imam tussle

*..Family affairs must be resolved within the family— Chief Imam Ogbomoso*

The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, has finally reacted to the Chief imam tussle rocking the Muslim community in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that Oba Ghandi broke his silence for the first time on Sunday sequel to the visit of a mediation envoy of the Yorubaland Council of Islamic Preachers (ITIHAD).

Recall that Sheikh Teliat Yinusa Olushina Ayilara, the chief Imam of Ogbomoso Central mosque had been engulfed in crisis and altercation with Ayilara descendants as well as other Muslim clerics loyal to Soun of Ogbomoso.

According to report, a peace meeting by a significant Islamic group in the Southwest that met separately with Sheikh Teliat Yunus and the Ayilara family, who disowned him last week, ended in impasse since each side is allegedly still unaccommodating.

Our correspondent gathered that when the three-man team arrived in the town, they visited the Soun of Ogbomoso Palace first.

The team included Sheikh Akeugbagold Taofeeq (Ibadan, Oyo state), Sheikh Abdullah Olounlomerue (Ede, Osun state), and Sheikh Sulaiman Olore (Ibadan, Oyo state).

“We can’t come to Ogbomoso without paying a courtesy visit to Your Majesty, out of deference and to intimate you of our mission since it is an issue that concerns your domain,” they said.

Sheikh Akeugbagold Taofeeq further stated: “The mandate of our council in Ogbomoso is to find amicable solution to the lingering crisis. That’s why we have come and we can’t come to Ogbomoso without visiting Your Majesty because we have seen you are not involved in the matter. Moreover, we must accord honour to whom it’s due.”

“We have been on this matter for over six months during which we reached out to the Imam to caution him. Let it be known that we stand for the truth. If we see anyone going astray we try to whip him.

It would be recalled that Ayilara family had last week described the Chief Imam as an impostor, using social media to allegedly blackmail the Soun of Ogbomoso.

The family who spoke through Prince Hassan Ayilara claimed that the chief Imam has brought disrepute to Imam Ayilara’s family, the prestigious throne of Soun and the image of the entire Muslim community in Ogbomoso land.

Even though Imam Taliat had on many occasions refuted the claims, he recently maintained that a family affairs must be resolved within the family, MOUTHPIECE NGR has learnt.
