High School Student Allegedly Commits Suicide Over Unwanted Pregnancy 

According to reports, a grade 10 student at Kunkujang Jatta-ya’s Maladah Senior Secondary School in the Gambia’s West Coast Region killed herself last night due to an unintended pregnancy.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the student identified as Mamy Jassey reportedly consumed a toxic drug, which resulted in her death, according to Eyes of Lagos. After being taken to a private facility close to Lamin Lodge, she was declared dead by a nurse. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

A lab technician who works in Mamy’s neighborhood realized the girl was “showing signs of life” when she checked her pulse, while the family was getting ready to bury her.

Mamy was quickly taken to the Banjulunding Health Center by the lab technician and a few neighbors, where she was once more declared dead.
