Agboworin hosts over 2,000 constituents to Iftar, pledges continuous support 

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, on Sunday, hosted religious leaders, government functionaries, party stalwarts, community members, youth groups to iftar, marking the end of another day of fasting during Ramadan. 

The event, which took place at his Felele residence, in Ibadan, provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere for over two thousand guests to break their fast together. 

The menu for the iftar gathering featured a variety of traditional Ramadan dishes and refreshments, as people from all over came to join in the wining and dining session, creating a sense of camaraderie and solidarity that transcended any differences. 

Agboworin, in a perfect way that suggests embracement of spirit of unity and community that Ramadan fosters, welcomed people with cheers and warm smiles. 

During the meal, Agboworin, who doubles as the Chairman of House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, took the opportunity to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the people of his constituency. 

In his speech, a community leader, identified as Alhaji Bello, thanked the lawmaker for stretching his hands of love to the people, describing the great works of the lawmaker as unprecedented. 

He added that Agboworin has continued to display high level of commitment to the development of his constituency. 

Similarly, an Islamic scholar, Alfa Ibrahim Dauda, appreciated the lawmaker for organizing iftar for Muslim faithfuls in his constituency, praying that “it will bring a lot of blessings to him.” 

“Gathering people for iftar is part of the teachings of Almighty Allah, which yields a lot of blessings. So, I want to pray that Almighty Allah will continue to bless and guide Hon. Agboworin in all his ways,” he stated. 

On the part of the Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Agboworin’s good deeds have really promoted the party in his constituency and Oyo State at large. 

Adeleke, while equally commending the lawmaker for hosting the iftar, he wished Agboworin well in his political endeavours, adding that “God will reward him abundantly.” 

He added that God has blessed Oyo State PDP with good members of House of Representatives, who are doing extremely well in their various constituencies. 

Youth Association Leader, Mr. Ahmed, in his comment, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker, describing him as “God-sent” to the people of Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East Federal Constituency. 

While commending Agboworin’s giant strides in the areas of youth empowerment and capacity building, he explained that the lawmaker has greatly impacted the lives of youths in his constituency positively, praying that Almighty Allah will continue to bless him. 

In his response, Agboworin, while thanking everyone for honoring his invitation, reaffirmed his commitment to serving his constituents with fairness and dedication, adding that, “going forward, more dividends will be witnessed in the constituency more than ever before.” 

The lawmaker equally used the ocassion to appreciate his principal, the governor of the state, His Excellency, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, for giving him the platform to serve his people conscientiously and believing in his representation. 

He assured the gathering that he would continue to follow the steps of his principal and toe the path of the sustainable development agenda, which the governor has embarked upon in the state. 

Agboworin, through his speech, exemplified the true essence of leadership, demonstrating that he is not just a representative but also a public servant dedicated to the betterment of his constituents and the community at large. 

Notable personalities present at the gathering include the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Federal Constituency Matters, Hon. Dare Adeleke; Oyo State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; Oyo State PDP Women Leader, Alhaji Wulemot Ibitoye and PDP Chairman of Ibadan North East, Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun Abuye. 

Others were former Chairman of Ibadan South East local government area and Agboworin 2023 Campaign Director General, Hon. Abiodun Ekolo; Political Head Administrator of Ibadan South, Hon. Teslim Ogundeji; Hon. Fatai Adeshina; Hon. Akeem Adedeji; Leader Remi Yusuf; all Party Excos from Ibadan North East and South East Federal constituency.
