We are working to make The Oke Ogun Polytechnic Saki one of the best in Nigeria— Rector tells Oyo Education Commissioner

In its readiness to address some of the challenges being faced by The Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, on Thursday, paid a visit to the institution.

According to a release by the Institution’s Public Relation Officer, Adebayo Samson Abiodun, the renowned Professor who was accompanied by the Director of Higher and Continuing Education, Mr Adewale Oluwole, was received by the institution’s management ably led by Sur.Dr .S.A Ajibola.

In his welcome address, the Polytechnic Rector appreciated the Honourable Commissioner and his team for finding time out of his tight schedule to inspect the institution and  address some of its pressing needs .

He said: “Your Honour Sir, I welcome you to The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, our institution, your institution. First of all, allow me to first thank the Visitor to the Polytechnic, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE for his vision.

“Since my appointment, I have been working to set a standard and also make The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic one of the best in Nigeria. We are not leaving any stone unturned. We are making every effort to turn the institution into a centre of attention and a source of great pride for the state of Oyo. 

“I want to thank you for your love and support for us which you have consistently demonstrated. And I hope some of our current challenges being face by the institution such as, Regularization of Casual Staff; the Issue of Encroachment on the Institution’s land, Un-tarred Road and Gully Erosion would be addressed. 

“You Honour Sir, presently, some of the priorities that we are working on are production of a Topographical Survey Plan, Developmental Plan and Drone footage of TOPS.

“We are optimistic that all urgent issues within the institution will be appropriately addressed in light of your visit today. Therefore, on behalf of the Management, Staff and The entire members of The Polytechnic Community, I express my Profound appreciation to you and your team, Sir.”

The Rector, however, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for appointing Professor Adelabu to oversee The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in the state, describing his appointment as a round peg in a round hole. 

He added that the Commissioner has been able to raise the standard of education in the state within the shortest period of his appointment. 

During his brief remarks, Professor Abdul-waheed Adelabu, the Commissioner for Education, urged all The Polytechnic staff Members to embrace Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision and always provide the institution with their fullest support. 

Adelabu assured that all pressing issues and demands would be addressed as Oyo Government will continue to give its full support to education in the state. 

The Rector later led other management members to conduct the Commissioner and his team round the Institution to see the problem on ground before visiting the Government Technical College Saki.
