Explosion: Tinubu’s aide, Moremi Ojudu, LASEMA visit Ibadan, commend Makinde’s swift response 

Following the explosion that claimed lives and properties, on Tuesday night, the Oyo state government has been commended by the Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement for the Southwest Geopolitical Zone, Hon. Moremi Ojodu for his quick response which contained the situation.

Ojodu, who gave the commendation on Thursday while meeting with the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal; the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, and other Oyo top government functionaries at the Agodi secretariat on a condolence visit, equally lauded the governor for visiting the explosion site and acting swiftly to investigate the cause.

She explained that her visit to the state is to access the situation and how her office can be of help to the community that has been impacted. 

Recall that on Tuesday night, Governor Makinde visited the explosion site and also set up an Emergency Situation Hub to collate and co-ordinate management of victims affected by the explosion that rocked Ibadan last night.

The Governor equally organized a temporary accommodation for those displaced as a result of the explosion as well as footing the bills of those injured.

Makinde’s swift’s response to arrest the ugly incident has continued to attract positive appraisal from people including the president of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, other state Governors, as well as the The Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) who visited Ibadan today to conduct an on-site assessment of the explosion site.

While exchanging pleasantries at the Emergency Centre in Housing Estate with Oyo Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the Head of LASEMA operation for the state of Lagos, Engineer Akinsanya expressed surprise and admiration for Governor Seyi Makinde’s quick response and ability to douse tension. 

He equally commended the Governor for visiting the site, adding that they were very satisfied with how the state government handled the crisis and as a result, they have come to commiserate with victims. 

The Deputy Governor, Barrister Lawal, in his separate remarks, thanked the visitors for commiserating with Oyo State Government led by Governor Seyi Makinde, and the entire people of Oyo state especially those affected by the Ibadan explosion.

He said His Excellency quickly moved out to know the situation of things without waiting for reports and took control of the emergency situation. 

He added that President Tinubu had also communicated with the Governor to give necessary support while commending the mutually reinforcing support by other states who have also commiserated with the victims affected by the explosion. 

Barr. Lawal, who later visited the office of Barrister John Adeniyi Farinto, whose office was also affected by the explosion, prayed God to give those who have lost loved ones the strength to cope with their loss and that God will assist those who have lost property in making up for their losses.
