Rotary Club of Ilorin Fate Neighbourhood, NSCDC commemorate World Peace Day 2023 with Peace Lecture and Peace Walk

In a joint effort to promote global harmony and commemorate World Peace Day 2023, the Rotary Club of Ilorin Fate Neighbourhood partnered with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, organize a series of events.

The International Day of Peace, observed worldwide, is dedicated to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace within and among all nations and peoples.”

In alignment with this noble cause, the Rotary Club and the NSCDC joined hands to orchestrate a Peace Lecture and a Peace Walk in various locations within the Ilorin Metropolis.

Rotarian Yakub Salmat Abolore, President of the Rotary Club of Ilorin Fate Neighbourhood, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with the NSCDC is aimed at fostering a more peaceful world for everyone. At the Rotary Club, we understand that peace influences nearly every aspect of our lives.”

The Peace Lecture, a pivotal component of the commemorative events, featured insights and guidance from the Peace Coordinator of NSCDC, as well as Rotary President Rotn. Christy Abayomi-Oluwole.

Attendees were inspired by their words of wisdom as they emphasized the importance of peace not only on a global scale but also within local communities.

The Peace Walk took participants through the streets of Ilorin, symbolizing a united stand for peace. The walk served as a powerful reminder that peace is not merely an abstract concept but a tangible force that can be cultivated through collective efforts.

The collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club of Ilorin Fate Neighbourhood and the NSCDC exemplified the spirit of World Peace Day by bringing together diverse members of the community to champion the cause of peace.
