This is a noteworthy development that demonstrates the Oyo State government’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens and the state’s economy.

The People’s Governor, Seyi Makinde, has continued to receive commendation from the people of Oyo state particularly the dwellers in Oke-Ogun zone for signing two executive orders. The orders are not mere formalities; rather, they are acts implemented by the state government as they truly represent the fruition of promise made by the Governor’s co-pilot, Barrister Abdul- Raheem Adebayo Lawal during the 2024 budget presentation held at Irepo local government about two months ago.

These executive orders signed at the governor’s office early this week, demonstrate the governor’s and his co-pilot’s unshakable commitment to enhancing the lives of the people and strengthening Oyo State’s security.

The Oyo State government’s concern for the welfare of its residents is evident in the first Executive order No. 001 of 2023, which focuses on protecting mining communities from exploitation and insecurity.

Even though the federal government has exclusive legislative authority over mining activities, the state government’s readiness to step in and handle the situation demonstrates how concerned it is about the security and environmental concerns these communities confront.

Whilst the second Executive Order No 002 of 2023  focuses on establishment of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the development shows how important this sector is to the government and how to leverage it to propel the state’s economy forward.

Additionally, the Governor has demonstrated his commitment to giving these sectors the focused attention they need by establishing this Ministry.

Without a doubt, these executive orders are in line with the Oyo State Sustainable Development 2023–2027 strategy, which highlights the importance of solid mineral and tourism development in advancing the state’s agenda for economic progress.

Because the Executive orders are a component of the pledge, these directives would also offer the people of Oyo State optimism that the government is not merely making empty promises.

The Executive orders are part of the promise made by our Deputy governor, the Bamofin of Kishi land during the budget presentation. And the government is actively working to fulfill them.
