OYHA Chief Whip Oyekola in Attendance as Sarkin Sasa Installs Dr. Akinteru, Abubakar, Other Traditional Chiefs

Ibadan was agog on Saturday as Sarkin Sasa, His Royal Highness, Alh. Dr. Mal Haruna Mai Yasin Katsina, who also serves as the chairman of Arewa Communities in the 17 southern states of Nigeria, installed traditional chiefs and presented exemplary awards to distinguished personalities.

The installation ceremony took place at Sasa community in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Among the newly installed chiefs and awardees are: Dr. Akinteru Akinjuwon Akintola Iwiade as the traditional-inter-ethnic peace and reconciliation advocacy leader of Miyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Yoruba Zone; Alh. Chief Ahmed Abubakar Dangarba; Dr. P Eter Ajogwu; Chief Muhammed Sanni Haruna; Col Birisiyu Olayinka Olayanju (Rtd); and Chief Abubakar Abdullahii Ture.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Joseph Gbenga Oyekola, the Chief Whip of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Atiba State constituency, described Sarkin Mai Yasin as a leader who transcends tribal boundaries and focuses on championing peace. 

He commended the installation of the traditional chiefs saying it’s a means to foster unity and ensure productive intra-ethnic relationships.

Oyekola expressed delight in Sarkin Sasa’s contributions to the state over the years, which according to him has added value to the pace-setter slogan and ensured relative peace. 

He urged the awardees and newly installed chiefs to continue their efforts in developing their communities, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.

“Always strive to galvanize and support the growth of your respective communities through the sustenance of peace and development, without any reservation. Today’s recognition has distinguished you as prominent personalities in the state,” He said!
